While Team CORTEC celebrates our 20-year milestone in 2024, we are reminded that we carry on a manufacturing legacy that extends much further back!
The Corte family originally moved to Houma, Louisiana in 1964 as Bobby Corte, Sr. was seeking employment as a machinist servicing parts used within oil and gas applications in the Gulf of Mexico. Over the next decade, he embarked on a journey to own and operate his own machine shop.
This dream was expanded in the 1970s with the creation of Cor-Val, Inc. Bobby, Sr. owned and operated this first company for over 30 years with his sons, including his oldest, Bobby Corte, Jr. Cor-Val evolved over the decades from a service and repair machining center to a manufacturing company developing and supplying its own products to the industry.
With its success, the company was sold in 2000 and became the flagship acquisition of T3 Energy Services, which through a series of corporate buyouts, is now part of the NOV Corporation of today.
CORTEC is formed
After serving three years in senior management to oversee a successful transition of operations at T3 Energy, Bobby Corte, Jr. followed in his father’s footsteps to form his own business – CORTEC! In the early chapters of the company, many of the employees took a leap of faith with Bobby to follow him in this venture bringing significant momentum and experience to the company.
In 2006, a new division was formed when Larry Chauvin III (Bobby Jr.’s brother-in-law) joined as partner to spearhead the ball valve division – CORTEC Manifold Systems (CMS).
CORTEC Today
Today, CORTEC remains a privately owned, family-run operation with both Bobby and Larry’s sons involved in the management of the company. Many of the faces have remained the same throughout this journey with several employees serving all or most of our 20 years. CORTEC has grown through the steadfast efforts of hundreds of employees, plus thousands of customers and vendors who have supported our success.
As we reflect on this significant milestone, we want to thank everyone who has played a role to bring this company to where it is today.
